🌐 改用繁體中文閱讀📝 Summary
Few semiconductor manufacturing problems are purely technical. For an SiC pilot fab to run, technology, procurement, environmental compliance, safety and training all have to land together — and there is only one shot at getting it right.
🎯 Problem
SiC is the key material for third-generation semiconductors, but its high-temperature process thermal control, tool selection, facility layout and regulatory paperwork bear little resemblance to a conventional line. This pilot fab was not an extension of an existing plant — it was a from-scratch build with no SOP to reuse.
🛠️ Approach
- Technical: participated in planning the SiC pilot fab and ran COMSOL multiphysics thermal-field simulations to support process-condition evaluation
- Administrative: annual budgeting, expense control (licensing fees), material requisition and incoming inspection
- Regulatory: water permits, waste-clearance amendments, factory registration filings; environmental operations and outsourcing management; investment tax-credit support
- Organisational: staffing, work-standard authoring, training (including outsourced), IT security and device management, factory access control
📈 Impact
- Supported the commissioning of an SiC high-temperature materials trial line, building hands-on third-generation semiconductor manufacturing experience
- Developed the ability to integrate technical and administrative workstreams in a project with no precedent to follow
